Student designers wanted for new Creative Times Design Brief series

Creative Times is looking for articulate and ambitious student designers to take part in a series of five design features, devised and coordinated by Manchester-based graphic designer Dan Shannon, to be published on the site in the first half of 2012.

Northern Soho launches innovative Mentor Match scheme

Following extensive consultation with its members, Northern Soho will be launching an innovative Mentor Match scheme on Thursday 24 November 2011.

The scheme will give members the unique opportunity to work with experienced mentors working in the creative industries, who have earned their stripes in organisations varying from the largest agency group in the North of England to the smallest freelancers working on their own.

Creative England appoints Chief Executive

Creative England has appointed Caroline Norbury as its first Chief Executive Officer. Caroline Norbury’s role will be to develop the new organisation when it starts operating next month, becoming the first dedicated support agency for England’s creative industries outside of London.

From October, Creative England will receive DCMS Grant in Aid monies from the BFI to support the strategic development of film in the English Regions. Creative England will also become the BFI’s delegated body for the distribution of National Lottery funds for film.

Fragrance Direct offers an extensive range of fragrances, cosmetics and beauty products direct to consumers through the company’s bespoke website.

They are looking for an ambitious individual with a proven track record and a passion for online retailing, who can demonstrate:

• Qualified to degree level in a Graphic Design based discipline

• At least 3 years experience working in a fast working environment, either client or agency side

• A proven track record of delivering artwork with a high level of creativity

• A strong command of the English language and excellent written skills

• Fully competent in the following PC based software:
o Adobe Photoshop
o Adobe Illustrator
o Adobe Dreamweaver
o Adobe Fireworks
o Adobe Flash
o Microsoft; Excel, Word and Powerpoint

• A thorough understanding of digital photography techniques

Mediathursday networking event

Top marks for accountancy

TRAINEE accountants now have more reasons to choose Manchester Metropolitan University after we retained our Platinum provider status.

The status awarded by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the top grade awarded and currently held by only a handful of UK providers.

Platinum awards recognise a providers high pass rate, quality of staff and student experience.

Manchester Metropolitan University currently has 250 part-time students working towards ACCA qualifications at its Business School.
